The Production of Biofuels in Québec: Which have a sustainable future and which do not?

Brief lectures and discussions on the following topics:
Is it possible to launch small or even large-scale biofuel production projects that are viable in the long term? In Québec, is it feasible to develop projects for exporting biofuel? What would be the impact and the feasibility criteria? What principles and criteria should guide our choice of biofuels? Which types of biofuels (technologies, raw materials) should be favoured?

Round table: Bioenergies: What Are Our Governments Doing and Saying? What Should They Be Doing?

Short presentations and Q&A :

By what they are doing or not doing, governments play a huge role in the development of biofuels and bioenergies. In the U.S., the choice to subsidize grain-based ethanol has created huge problems. What is happening in Canada and Québec? How do we want our governments to encourage truly sustainable bioenergies and the development of our communities?

Antonin Michaud, Industrial Commissioner, City of Amqui
Christian Simard, Executive Director, Nature Québec
Claire Bolduc, Solidarité Rurale du Québec
